Imams condemned Church and Masjid bomb attack

MARAWI CITY (January 30, 2019) – The United Imam of the Philippines (UIP) condemned Wednesday the deadly attack on a Masjid in Logoy Diutay, Talon Talon, Zamboanga City which killed at least 2 people and 4 wounded in the blast.

The grenade exploded inside the Mosque that killed Sattal M. Bato and Rex Z. Habil and injured Palson Saji Asgali, Alnizkar A. Sabbaha and Jikilani J. Albani, who were brought in the hospital for treatment.

According to local police, the incident transpired at 12:20 a.m. where the victims, including Muslim religious leaders, were sleeping.

The UIP has condemned the perpetrators of Jolo Cathedral twin bomb attacks on January 27 which is 3 days before Zamboanga masjid explosion.

“The twin bomb attack on Cathedral in Jolo, Sulu and grenade explosion in Masjid in Zamboanga is heinous and cowardly terrorist attack.” UIP President Saad Amate said.

Amate added that spilling of blood of innocent people and the destruction of house of worhip is absolutely prohibited in Islam.

In a statement, the Ulama Council of Zamboanga Peninsula strongly condemned “this devilish, irrational and inhumane act.”
